All right everyone, here is a brief podcast highlighting two restaurants that we recently visited. Giwa was a fun Korean restaurant located in Center City Philadelphia; Standard Tap is located in Northern Liberties. Thanks & talk to you soon!

As a Korean-American I can say without a doubt that this place is horrible!! There are 3 options for Korean in Center City and unfortunately they all are just not up to par. If you want real Korean Food you need to go to the Korean community, which is NE Philly. So head up Roosevelt and bang a left on 5th or Castor and really get a taste of what Korean food is supposed to really be. Upper Darby isn’t a bad option either - around 69th Street and up Rt. 3.
The problem with Giwa is that it’s just not authentic, full of MSG and the times I’ve been there a Korean isn’t even making the food!!! The problem is that real Korean food is so foreign to Non-Koreans, that they need to homogize it to the masses. A bit sad but it’s the reality if you want to be successful.
So, again, if you want Korean, you need to head to the NE or Upper Darby! When the staff barely speak English, you’re in the right place!

Eddie,
I’m sure it’s not authentic, but we still enjoyed our meal and the service was good. It’s a limited menu, “faster food” alternative…
Hopefully, you’ll hook us up with a spot in the Northeast!
