Let me set the scene for you… Old School, American-Italian style restaurant complete with dark wood paneling, drop ceilings and red pleather booths. Back in in the day, this was a big hangout for some of the Flyers and there was a reported “riot” after the team beat Boston in the ‘74 Stanley Cup. OK, many might have run the other way, but Patti and I dug in for a truly meaningful “dining experience.” As we were ushered into the dining room, we were transfixed by the mirrored etchings of Grecian figures, not to mention the back-lit stained glass murals of Venetian scenes.

Needless to say, we couldn’t wait to check out the menu. I was tantalized when I found Riunite prominently displayed on the wine list “Riunite on Ice. That’s Nice!” Expectably, the menu was packed with Italian favorites. After being delivered a couple of beers at warp speed, we found the most memorable description of a food item that I’ve seen in a long time: “Lasagna – Start Drooling” “… with cheese and sauce swimming throughout the plate…” Patti and I chose a couple of our faves; uh,  we passed on the “Lasagna.”

Our meal was good, but pretty standard. Among the standout items, the Snapper Soup was thick and flavorful. In addition, the service was good and the atmosphere was “classic.” We’ll go back.

Of course, no South Jersey meal is complete without a “Thanks Youse Guys!”
