The PhillyFoodGuys blog and podcast reviews great, yet lesser-known food places in Philadelphia, PA. We focus on sharing our experiences about fun and unique restaurants we’ve found throughout the city, while presenting our opinions on what makes each one special.
We only cover restaurants that we like and would recommend to our friends. Therefore if we have a bad or mediocre experience you won’t here about it. It’s a karma thing.
The PhillyFoodGuys’ rating “system” is entirely subjective - it’s just our opinion. While some PhillyFoodGuys contributors have owned, managed, surpervised and worked in a variety of restaurants, we’re not experts. We’re big fans of the total “experience,” which includes the food, service and atmosphere. Sometimes strength in one area compensates for weakness in another. Regardless, we always try to let you know our thoughts.
Restaurant selections are based on rumors, recommendations, research and a luck. If you know of a good spot we should visit, let us know! Email us at: bill [at] phillyfoodguys.com
Others Stuff You May Want to Know:

We pay for all our meals.

We don’t let anyone know who we are and what we’re doing.

We don’t accept free stuff.

We do it for fun.
Who are the PhillyFoodGuys?
Bill - Considered the Ringmaster of the PhillyFoodGuys’ circus, Bill often finds himself the role of decision maker (trust us, without him nothing would get done). As a bonus, he is one of the very few that can understand Tush once he’s worked up and babbling.

Tush - The original “master of disaster,” Tushar would seek out a restaurant whose name he found on a dirty cocktail napkin. Ever wondered who would respond to one of those 1″x 1″ ads in the back of your local newspaper? Well, that’s Tushar.
Sue Z. - Prowling the neighborhoods for the unique, our resident mystery woman and long-time Philly resident Sue Z. has a knack for finding the obscure. Corporate training slave and part-time college professor by day, Sue’s eclectic tastes run the gamut.

Hi,
Not sure if this is the best way to contact you, but we’d love to have you check out National Mechanics at 22 S. 3rd St (the old Revival building). We’ve got good food and drink that you’d like, imho.

JHill,
Thanks for thinking of us. We’ve been known to have a beverage or two, so we’ll show up sometime soon…
I’d love to see what’s been done with the former Revival building…for the 9th time it seems. It would be great if something could stick!!
Sue Z.
The site is pretty sweet Bill! I want to be a part of the restaurant review team. We’ll have to get together one weekend and talk about it over some beers.
Mike,
Thanks. We’d love to have you ride “shotgun” anytime.
Thanks for a great site! I’ve often eatten at some of the establishments that were mentioned and I found that you were dead accurate. The site also opened up alot more possibilities for my family and I. I have moved to the suburbs (Horsham) and would like to gain some insight on any establishments which you might recommend because we do no have this kind of insight in the ‘burbs. In reality,I had stumbled upon your site while, I was looking for Dim Sum, on the level of Lakeside or Lee Fooks, but in the ‘burbs, had no luck. I was told of a Chinese place on Bethlaham Pike that is the daughter of the owner of Joy Sol Loul’s on Race Street (pardon the misspelling of the name). I will check out soon. If you could ever recommend anything in the suburbs, it would be much appreciated. Thanks again.
